Lara Ottaviani was born in London, in 1988 and has an Italian nationality.
Lara received her Bachelor degree in Health Biotechnology from Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome (Italy) in 2011. For her thesis “Study of endothelial progenitors in HIV patients upon diagnosis and after therapy” she attended an internship in the Department of Pathological Anatomy.
In 2014, Lara received her Master degree in Medical Biotechnology from Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome, where she completed two years of internship in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. Her final thesis was “ Ex vivo gene therapy on cardiac stem cells on patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy for heart-failure treatment”.
In 2014 she started to work at KU Leuven (Belgium) in the Department of Experimental Cardiology on c-kit positive cardiac stem cells and oxidative stress.
Lara will join Maastricht University on 1 April 2016 in the Department of Cardiology (CARIM School for Cardiovascular Diseases) in the group of Professor P. da Costa Martins.
