Nicolò Mangraviti was born on July 30th, 1992 in Messina (Italy).
He achieved his Bachelor degree Biotechnology at the University of Sannio with a thesis about the influence of the splicing during the evolution.
Interested in molecular biology he attended and achieved the Master degree at “Sapienza” University of Rome in “Genetic and Molecular Biology In basic and biomedical research” in January 2017.
During the last year of his Master, he performed his internship at the laboratory RNA editing at the Children Hospital Bambino Gesù of Rome, under supervision of Dr. Angela Gallo and Prof Alessandro Fatica. In this period he focused his attention on the activity of RNA editing by ADAR’s family in Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) with a thesis about “Modulation of the expression and activity of the enzyme adar2 in glioblastoma by calpain1”
In January 2017 Nicolò started working as a research fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Angela Gallo continuing his thesis project and starting to study in small part LncRNA edited in GBM and Brain.
Nicolò will join Maastricht University as a PhD student on February 2018 under the supervision of Prof. Leon de Windt.
